Counterpunching for Life

Among the mix of barefaced lies and spurious claims that constitute the abortion industry's propaganda campaign to impose "buffer zones" to prevent peaceful pro-life prayer and counselling outside their British killing-chambers, we find:

Apropos the final claim, in a 2018 memorandum to Ealing councillors who wished to introduce the Orwellian "zones", the Firethorn Trust underlined that “There is strong evidence of a link between abortion and a subsequent pre-term birth.” It continued:

“All these statements [above] are deeply misleading and wrong (and can be shown as such) for a variety of reasons. In all of the research studies, you look at the FINDINGS and not the CONCLUSIONS  — it is there that you will find the evidence of POST-ABORTION HARM.”

In the typically hard-hitting Firethorn memo, Executive Director Christopher McNicholas, a barrister, warned councillors who voted for buffer zones: "You are assisting in an alleged breach of the law!" (He attached a detailed Open Letter of 12 January 2018 sent to Prime Minister Theresa May “To outline the Clear and Present Danger that "Buffer Zones" present to the Freedom of Speech & Assembly in the United Kingdom.”) The councillors were also apprised that:

"Abortion-related injuries are increasingly coming to the fore and it will ultimately become a source of great shame to be complicit in furthering this agenda. Abortion is the 'red light' of medicine and if the truth be known, medicine does not like it either."

The Ealing memo included the following Appendices which readers may find helpful for their own pro-life counterattacks. For copies of the full Open Letter to Prime Minister May (see extracts pp. 69-70) email the Firethorn Trust at: GladiumUIOGD@outlook.com

(A) Injuries Related to an Induced Abortion

Studies are held on record for the following injuries
– physical sequelae of a legal and induced abortion:

1. Death – the leading causes of abortion-related deaths are – haemorrhage, infection, embolism, undiagnosed ectopic pregnancies and anaesthesia (as occurred at Ealing where the doctor was prosecuted for gross negligence and manslaughter – the anaesthesia had not been checked for 15 minutes – but then the case against him was dropped in 2016 with only the two nurse orderlies being prosecuted for health and safety breaches).

2. The risk of breast canceralmost doubles after one abortion and rises even further with two abortions. The link was first identified as far back as 1957. A number of independent studies have since confirmed the link, notably one carried out by the London-based Pension and Population Research Institute (PAPRI), a registered charity. Details were published in the Autumn 2007 edition of The American Journal of Physicians and Surgeons; see http://www.jpands.org/vol12no3/carroll.pdf

3. Cervical, Ovarian and Liver Cancer – these increased cancer rates for post-aborted women are apparently linked to the unnatural disruption of the hormonal changes which accompany pregnancy and untreated cervical damage.

4. Uterine Perforation – uterine damage may evolve into problems requiring a hysterectomy, leading perhaps to other injuries, including osteoporosis.

5. Cervical Lacerations – This may well result in long-term reproductive damage. Cervical incompetence, premature birth delivery, and labour complications can occur. The risk of cervical damage is greater for TEENAGERS undertaking a legal, induced abortion.

6. Placenta Praevia and handicapped new-borns in later pregnancies.

7. Ectopic Pregnancy – Life-threatening and can result in reduced fertility.

8. Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) – A potentially life-threatening disease which can lead to an increased risk of ectopic pregnancy and reduced fertility.

9. Endometriosis – A post-abortion risk for all women but a 2.5 times risk for TEENAGERS over young women who are in their twenties (20-29).

10. Immediate Complications – Infection, excessive bleeding, embolism, uterine perforation, anaesthesia injury, convulsions, haemorrhage, cervical injury and endo-toxic shock.

11. The most common “minor” complications/injuries include – infection, bleeding, fever, second-degree burns, chronic abdominal pain, vomiting, gastro-intestinal disturbances and Rh sensitization.

12. There is also a trend towards multiple abortion, behavioural changes – promiscuity, smoking, drug abuse, eating disorders, loss of self-esteem; promiscuity and abortion are both linked to increased rates of PID and ectopic pregnancies.

13. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) & Post-Abortion Syndrome (PAS) – hyper-arousal, intrusion, constriction, anger, rage, aggressive behaviour, estrangement, withdrawal from previous relationships, nightmares, flashbacks, anniversary reactions, sleep disturbances, drug and alcohol abuse, diminished interest in previously enjoyed activities; a sense of a foreshortened future.

14. Sexual Dysfunction – Loss of pleasure from intercourse, painful intercourse, aversion to men and a promiscuous lifestyle.

15. Suicidal Ideation and Attempts– especially strong in post-abortive TEENAGERS.

16. Increased smoking, alcohol abuse, divorce or separation, road accidents and job losses.

17. Drug abuse can lead to HIV/AIDS infections with congenital malformations.

18. Eating Disorders – binge eating, bulimia and anorexia.

19. Child neglect/abuse – depression, violent behaviour, replacement pregnancies and divorce/chronic relationship problems, depression, anxiety, distrust, volatility.

(B) The Abortion-Injured Woman

The following is an account which articulates the true nature of long-term injury and suffering post-abortion that the pavement vigil counsellors attempt to inform about and if possible assist her, to prevent:

"Just a few years ago, I was told how very simple and easy it was to get an abortion. I was told, 'get it on your lunch hour - it's painless; there's nothing to it '. I was eighteen and I was ignorant and uninformed of the facts. [AT THE TIME WHEN I ENTERED THE CLINIC, I WAS AMBIVALENT BUT IMMEDIATELY USHERED INTO THE ENTRANCE BY A GROUP OF WOMEN WHO ACTED TO PREVENT ME FROM SPEAKING WITH THOSE PEOPLE IN THE VICINITY REPRESENTING THE CRISIS PREGNANCY HELP CENTRES] The abortionists knew what they were doing though, and they exploited my ignorance. There was an intentional absence of truth — if they had told me: 'you have a twelve week old baby there, he's growing, he has arms and legs, brainwaves, he is already a boy and his heart has been beating since eighteen days after conception, he responds to touch and if you put a pencil in his hand, he can grab it. And he will feel the pain as he is pulled apart, limb from limb, and sucked through the narrow tube (of the suction machine) into the bloody bag. And as for you, you will experience nightmares, depression, severe guilt, anguish, heartache, deep regret and unbearable shame. You'll never forget it and you'll never get over it. But it's your right and it's your choice.'

If they had told me that, I would have a sixteen-year-old son today. I would never have chosen abortion — never. Had it been illegal, I would never have even sought it; I would have gone on with having a baby. Abortion is not about choices — it's about money. If they had told me the truth, I would have walked out and said thank you very much. And out with me would have walked their commission. If abortion is so good for women, why isn't it free? Out there, are crisis pregnancy centres all across the country — everything that they do is free — from a pregnancy test to housing a woman for all nine months of pregnancy until after the child is born — it's all free. The people who work there work for free. If it's so good for women then why isn't abortion free? My counselling consisted of cash, Mastercard or Visa.

While in the abortion mill the employees feel frustrated and all the customers are waiting for their services, the abortionist feels very pleased — and laughs a lot. I often wonder now how he could have been laughing while performing such a dirty deed; I often wonder what his commission purchased with my child's life. While on the table laid before me, it said (quote) 'I almost waited too late' but they didn't tell me why. I know now that my fully formed twelve-week baby...boy...was…almost too big to suck through the suction hose; and that would require another procedure, and of course, more money. While I writhed and screamed in intolerable pain, I can't remember everyone telling me how painless this simple procedure is. No one comforted me — they tried to quieten me so that I wouldn't scare off any of the other customers. Seventeen months later, still uninformed, I went back for more. This time, they remembered me. From all the screaming and crying that I had done from seventeen months before. But it's a painless and simple procedure.

Little did I know, but my pain was only about to begin. Prior to aborting, I was completely indifferent to abortion. It affected me in no way. Afterwards, I became a hardened feminist. It's my right to an abortion and no one should dare to take that away — from me or anyone else. Having had an abortion, it changed me.

It affected my entire outlook on life, and the whole direction that my life went. Four years after aborting, I just happened to see a video which some of you may be familiar with by now, called The Silent Scream.

It is a sonogram of an actual suction abortion. You can clearly see a twelve week old baby fighting for its life in its mother's womb. It was sixty seconds of the truth that was omitted so many years before. When I saw that, I cried so hard that the blood vessels in my face and throat burst. It was in that moment that I realised what I had done. It was much too late. That was the beginning of a traumatic ten years that would follow. An aching, overwhelming, unbearable guilt with shame, depression, hurt, pain and grief. It was only in 1991 that I found the road to recovery. It's been an extremely difficult road. I had to confess to my husband that my child's life ended not by miscarriage as I had told him for so many years, but in an abortion — at my choosing.

If abortion is so good for women, then why are they so ashamed afterwards? — They don't want anyone to know what they've done. I had to go through months of counselling and recovery groups; I had to symbolically bury my children — which I never thought that I would live through; and I have not escaped difficult trauma either as I have suffered the loss of three more children through miscarriage — each one being worse than the one before, physically and emotionally.

There are two important people missing from my life who died at my own hand. I will always have to live with that. My hope and prayer ....is that those of you...who can do something ....will do something.....it has now been seventeen years and the pain doesn't go away; it gets a little easier. I have a three year old whom Almighty God has trusted me with — another one and I just held him yesterday....and I looked at him ...and I realised that I killed two of these ...because nobody told me what I was doing...I hope that those of you who can ...will do something about this atrocious, abominable, detestable, violent act and correct the wrong that has been done for so long to so many children, mothers and fathers."

Extract from a one-page Summary Sheet of an Open Letter to
the Prime Minister from The  Firethorn Trust, dated 12 January 2018.

(1) The Open Letter explains that “Buffer Zones” are a serious threat to the Freedom of Speech & Assembly in the United Kingdom and breach the Human Rights Act 1998. The peaceful and law-abiding witnessing by pavement counsellors has been carried out for 23 years with no arrests, cautions and/or penalties at all. There is full compliance with the law and the abortion industry does not like it – it is cutting into their profits. Pages 6-8 of the Open Letter give a full account of the law governing freedom of speech and freedom of assembly as protected under English Common Law and the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR); Yet, Ealing Council has been lobbied to put in a Public Spaces Protection Order (‘PSPO’) to prevent the pro-life vigils who offer valuable and life-saving help to expectant mothers, ambivalent about abortion and ignorant of what the procedure involves when they are facing a crisis pregnancy. The SS(1) and their apologists can offer no legal or moral reason for trying to bring about the placement of a PSPO and state only that they consider approaches of help to these expectant mothers as ‘harassment’. The law gives a very high threshold to the life vigils as you will see from pages 6-8 and Parliament cannot abrogate that threshold.
